Grand Portage Trust Lands and Resources

Welcome

You can go to the blog to see what has been going on recently at Trust Lands.

The Grand Portage Trust Lands and Natural Resources department has many facets of responsibility. Our number one goal is to monitor our environment and protect and promote responsible and sustainable use of our natural resources. Grand Portage Trust Lands include all reservation land and waters that is held in trust by the federal government. Our Biology department monitors our fish and wildlife. From Lake Trout surveys and rearing fish in our new fish hatchery to aerial surveys of our moose population, the fish and wildlife crew is busy year-round. The Crew Minus David The Photographer The Forestry department is involved in protecting our forest, recently in Gypsy Moth control, and setting up timber sales and protecting our forests from wildfire. To make sure that we continue to have good water quality, air quality, good working wetlands and the prevention of pollutants entering our lakes and streams is the responsibility of our Environmental department. The Geographic Information System (GIS) department maps and adds layers of information from all departments so we have this information available to all. The Conservation department has the responsibility of enforcing Reservation hunting and fishing laws. The Trust Lands staff is ensuring the future of our environment and resources for us and future generations.
